HEAT TREATED GLASS
Float glass is a very fragile material. Due to heat treatment, the internal stresses within its structure change, which causes an increase in its bending strength and resistance to fracture.
types of
glass heat treatment
“AKMA” carries out the following types of glass heat treatment:
- Tempered glass – the glass subjected to special heat treatment, as a result of which it obtains the increased thermal and mechanical durability with a safe form of destruction.
- Heat-strengthened glass – the glass, which has passed special heat treatment due to which its thermal and mechanical durability becomes higher than float glass not as tempered glass.
- Heat Soak Test (HST) — any tempered glass, due to the presence in its chemical composition of nickel sulphide inclusions (NiS), has a probability of spontaneous fracture. In order to minimize the possibility of glass self-destruction, tempered glass can be subjected to a special additional procedure Heat Soak Test, which consists in the many-hour aging of already tempered glass in a special chamber at a temperature of 290 ° С. Thus, HST – the test for the accelerated glass again. It’s carried out to reveal NiS inclusions which are the reason of glass spontaneous destruction. If it is necessary to carry out HST, it must be ordered simultaneously with the order of tempered glass.
ASSORTMENT OF AKMA TEMPERED GLASS
WE OFFER a wide range of tempered glass
Additionally, we can offer our clients heat-strengthened glass and provide Heat Soak Test (HST). If it is necessary to carry out HST, it must be ordered simultaneously with the order of tempered glass.
GLASS HEAT TREATMENT
GLASS FOR PRODUCTION AKMA TEMPERED AND HEAT-STRENGTHENED GLASS
- Transparent
- Tinted
- With a decorative coating
- Sun-protection glass
- Low emission
- Multifunctional
- Painted
TEMPERED GLASS ADVANTAGES
- Glass durability on a strike is higher than float glass in 5-6 times, on a bend – in 2-3 times
- Thermal shock exclusion at change of temperature from -150 °C to + 300 °C
- Destructed it breaks up to safe pieces – small splinters with the dulled sides: 1-10 mm
- The highest rate of a light transmission among variations of a safe glazing
- High resistance to vibration influences
HEAT-STRENGTHENED GLASS ADVANTAGES
- Glass durability on a strike is higher than float glass in 3-4 times, on a bend – in 1.5-2 times
- Thermal shock exclusion at change of temperature within 100 °C
- Less expressed anisotropy
- Heat Soak Test isn’t required as such glass isn’t subjected to spontaneous destruction
- Unlike tempered, destructed the heat-strengthened glass crack so that the isolated splinters aren’t formed, and big splinters are kept in a frame.
